Initial Ideas For Locations
I thought that a field in Avery Hill Park, Greenwich would be an appropriate location to film. It's in a secluded part of the park so people rarely go there so we wouldn't have to worry about members of the public accidentally being caught on film, particularly when shooting establishing shots of the area. Additionally, it's right near a small forest so we would be able to film the majority of our whole scene in one go and at the same location, which would save us valuable time. Furthermore, it's far from any roads so we wouldn't have to worry about unwanted incidental diegetic sound. However, the forest nearby isn't quite the scenic image we had in our minds for our final location as there is more open space than trees.
Jessica's Idea for Location
Elmstead Wood
Elmstead Wood
Elmstead Wood, located in Chislehurst, is one of our initial location ideas for filming. This location has both scenic woods that would an attract a photographer, and is seemingly very isolated. This would help to establish the horror genre, effectively immersing the audience in the scene and preventing plot holes in our opening. This area isn't very largely populated, so we would not have to worry too much about arranging a completely isolated space to film in within the woods. Elmstead Wood is very near to me personally, so it would be very simple for me to scout the area or take photos when necessary. However, it is quite far for the other two members of my Media group, and could therefore cause complications for filming days.
Danielle's Idea for Location
King George's Recreation Ground
King George's Recreation Ground, located in Sidcup, is one of our initial location ideas for filming. The pros of this location is that there is a wide open space within the centre of the ground and it would be good for filming wide shots or establishing shots. The area is also very sceneic which would be perfect for the opening of our scene where the protagonist is a photographer. However, there are many cons to this locations. Firstly, this area is very popular with younger children as there is a playground at the entrance of the recreation ground so it may be almost impossible to have the whole area with nobody in it. Secondly, the area is very sparse with a few amount of trees. In our film opening we wanted a very crowded space with plenty of trees and in this area it is the complete opposite is what we are looking for.
