Day 1 - Filming
Day 1 - Filming
Aforementioned in a previous post, on our first filming day (27th December) we would shoot all of the polaroid photos to print off over the next couple of days in preparation for the main filming of our opening. Firstly, we meet up early in the morning and took photos of our actress, Charlotte, walking her dog, getting in a bus and carrying her shopping home.
In each of these photos our aim was to convey to the audience that they were taken without her knowledge. Therefore, Charlotte is not directly looking into the camera. This process was fairly simple and we finished on time according to our schedule.
The last picture we took was of Charlotte on the floor, dead. We spent a lot of time covering Charlotte's shirt and face in blood and positioning the camera to achieve the picture we wanted. That night, I proceeded to pick out the best photos and placed them on a polaroid template (as shown below). Then, I cut them out using a scalpel. To achieve a professional and realistic look, I printed the photos on glossy photo paper. This way, not only did they realistic but the colour came out brighter and the objects also looked sharper. We decided to use a polaroid template due to their popularity with the younger generation at this moment in time and in fits in perfectly with the main protagonist being a photographer.
